Artist Tom Faber – who will be creating the artwork for our stunning realisation of Schubert’s Winterreise in November – has won a major award from Glyndebourne Opera for another piece of artwork.
The Glyndebourne Tour Art Competition, says the company, “challenges new artists to create the cover of our Tour Programme Book”. This year’s theme was Lost and Found, and Tom has turned this into a multi-layered concept – the image is created from scans of cardboard cups which had been used to wash brushes, but it is also a reworking of a Michaelangelo work (the Temptation of St Antony), which is itself a re-working of an earlier painting.
